Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 8 August 2026
These terms cover your use of the ScreenRuler application for macOS. By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use ScreenRuler on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service. You may not redistribute, resell, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
2. Free and paid features
ScreenRuler includes a free tier. Some features require a paid plan (“Pro”), including the geometry tools, exporting, design-spec import, and additional saved profiles. Which features sit behind the paid tier may change as the app develops.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in System Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, or via the App Store.
- Cancelling stops future renewals. The remainder of a period you have already paid for stays active.
- A lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and does not renew.
Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region. We may change prices for future periods; you will be told in advance where Apple requires it.
4. Refunds
Purchases are made through the App Store, so refunds are handled by Apple under their policy, not by us. Requests can be made at reportaproblem.apple.com. Where local consumer law gives you a statutory right to cancel or to a refund, that right is unaffected by this section.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use ScreenRuler to:
- break any applicable law or regulation;
- capture, measure or reproduce content you have no right to access;
- infringe anyone’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
- interfere with the security or normal operation of the app or any device it runs on.
ScreenRuler can read the screen in order to measure it. You are responsible for making sure your use of that capability is lawful in your context — for example where confidential or regulated material is on screen.
6. Availability and changes
We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop supporting older versions of macOS. We aim to give reasonable notice of significant changes, but the app is provided on an ongoing-development basis.
7. Disclaimer of warranty
ScreenRuler is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Measurements produced by the app depend on display scaling, DPI settings and the accuracy of your own input. Do not rely on them alone where precision matters — verify anything critical independently.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple is not responsible for the app or any claim relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
10. Termination
This licence ends if you stop using and delete the app, or if you breach these terms. Sections 7, 8 and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply.
